Oxford Town Hall was alive with the sound of music on 24th March 2025, as 162 primary school musicians involved in the Music Flood Partnership teamed up with performers from Radley College, Larkmead School, John Mason School and the Thames Vale Youth Orchestra (TVYO) to form the ‘Mighty Orchestra’!

- Music For Youth

The lead-up to the Orchestra day saw special workshops in primary schools across the Abingdon area, supported by students and teachers from Radley, Larkmead, John Mason and TVYO. The event itself was presented in association with Music For Youth (MFY), as part of the MFY Local Festival Series - all the young musicians involved have now been invited to July’s MFY National Festival in Birmingham!

Sam Gladstone, who helped run the day, later said that the Mighty Orchestra was “life-changing for many in the room… The performance was extraordinary - the most incredible sound, thrilling energy and frankly unbelievable ensemble, with over 300 musicians including many who had never played in an ensemble before…the visiting guest from the national MFY Local Festival Series could not believe what he was seeing!”
